Waste management

As Ivorians increasingly live in cities, waste management has become a real development problem.

Plastic bags clog Abidjan gutters (very often the receptacle of domestic garbage…) and trash dumps overflow on the roads. I found an impressive number of anarchic proliferations of smelly rubbish dumps, even in naked areas of the bush. Pools of dirty, stagnant water and trash almost everywhere are the type of environment in which malaria-carrying mosquitoes love to breed.
